WE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time.
Out of conviction, we have been involved in sustainability projects for many years and the topic climate protection is important for us. In collaboration with ClimatePartner, we have generated our carbon footprint and calculated our ecological footprint. We fully offset CO2 emissions generated by our company through the climate protection projects Forest Protection Rimba Raya in Indonesia and Forest Protection Pacajà in Brazil.
Our company is climate neutral
Nectaflor honeys are climate neutral and bear the ‘climate neutral’ label. We offset the carbon emissions generated by our company and our nectaflor honeys (which arise primarily from the carriage of goods and packaging).
1) Measuring Carbon Emissions
ClimatePartner has identified our company’s relevant carbon emission sources. The analysis and annual update of our balance enables us to implement and monitor measures to continue to avoid and and reduce carbon emissions.
2) Offsetting CO2 emissions through the climate protection projects Forest Protection Rimba Raya, Indonesia and Forest Protection Pacajà, Brazil
We offset our greenhouse gases by supporting these two forest protection projects. Forests are not only among the planet's most important carbon reservoirs. They also are home to an enormous diversity of species and are the livelihood for all people. However, global forest areas have declined sharply in recent decades due to increasing settlement, agricultural use, illegal logging and mining. Forest protection projects ensure that forests are preserved in the long term and that the protection of forests is given a higher value than their deforestation. Together with the local population, project participants protect the area from negative influences. To allow for this the projects create alternative sources of income and educational opportunities. The project in Indonesia serves in particular to protect the habitat of orangutans. The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve is home to some of the last remaining endangered Bornean orangutans and acts as a buffer zone between oil palm plantations and the Tanjung Puting National Park.
All ClimatePartner projects are certified according to the highest international standards and independent third-party checks that local measures are implemented.
3) Carbon Offset Verification
Climate neutrality is transparently verifiable thanks to the ClimatePartner process with order-specific ID number. More information at www.climatepartner.com/14871-2008-1001.
